Phase I & Phase II Expansion

Phase I

Since 1986, ZFS&A has been proud to support Ronald McDonald House Charities by designing and constructing welcoming spaces for families in Syracuse. The original 42,000-square-foot building, completed in December 2012, includes four floors and a partial basement with 35 guest rooms and two manager apartments, all designed to comfortably accommodate both child patients and their families. The 8,000-square-foot first floor features essential shared spaces, including administrative offices, a group kitchen, dining room, and living area. Every aspect of the design aims to create a warm, home-like environment that supports multiple families at once while meeting the unique needs of long-term stays.

Phase II Expansion

In the fall of 2023, ZFS&A began an expansion project to meet growing demand, managing the renovation of over 9,000 square feet on the previously unfinished fourth floor. Completed in September 2024, this project added six new family suites four one-bedroom suites and two two-bedroom suites—designed to offer privacy and comfort for large and multigenerational families. Each suite provides a dedicated living area for families with children who are immunocompromised, as well as spaces for working parents and family members to work remotely.
