Fayetteville Towne Center

The Fayetteville Mall was considered a “shopper’s paradise” when it opened in 1974, but by the time of its demolition in 2001 was called a “ball and chain around the community’s neck”. It was substantially empty for over ten years and in disrepair.

ZFSA was hired to reimagine the former 46 acre site and worked with a team to redevelop the mall as a New England-style shopping center, Towne Center at Fayetteville. The planning resulted in an upscale strip mall accompanied by multiple freestanding smaller buildings. The total property encompasses 575,00 sq. ft. of space, a 36,000 sq. ft. physician’s office building, and parking for over 3,000 cars. It is home to such stores as Target, Tops Market, Stickley Furniture, and various restaurant chains and banks.
